The letter M
In Ferrari language, M stands for Modificata. Ferrari says it marks a car that has gone through an evolution that significantly boosts its performance. So the Portofino M is the Portofino after a serious gym membership.
Unveiled from a laptop
Ferrari revealed the Portofino M on 16 September 2020, and it did it entirely online, a first in the company's 70-plus-year history. It was also the first new Ferrari presented after the company's temporary Covid-19 shutdown, and Ferrari called it "a voyage of rediscovery." Somewhere, a Ferrari executive learned to unmute themselves.
What changed
- A twin-turbo 3.9-liter V8 making 620 cv, about 612 hp.
- A brand-new eight-speed gearbox.
- A five-position Manettino (the drive-mode switch on the wheel) that adds a Race setting, which Ferrari says was a first on one of its GT spiders.
- Ferrari's figures: 0–62 mph in 3.45 seconds and a top speed above 320 km/h (199 mph).
What it's for
The Portofino M is a 2+ GT spider in Ferrari's words: a folding hardtop, two proper seats and two small ones, meant to be driven far and often. It's the Ferrari you'd actually take to the lake house, as opposed to the one that lives under a cover.
The one at Lamborghini Miami
Yes, a Lamborghini dealer sells Ferraris. This 2022 Portofino M is listed at $271,697 as of our check on 21 October 2026. Darin's album doesn't include this model, so the photo on the card is a licensed Wikimedia Commons shot of the same model, not this exact car. The credit is right under the photo.
Why it turns heads
A red Ferrari convertible with the top down is about the clearest signal a car can send. It says "I'm on vacation" even when you're just going to Mariano's.
The honest part
